Course Description:

Your caseload is rapidly expanding as more patients skip the physician and go to the direct access route.

But so is your liability, and the risk for your patients – unless you’re up to speed on medical screening and differential diagnosis. From meningitis to cardiovascular disease, many medical pathologies mimic musculoskeletal conditions, and in a busy clinical setting they’re easy to miss without consistent, accurate screening and sound clinical reasoning.

Join your fellow clinicians at this upcoming seminar, and learn a step-by-step medical screening model that helps you protect your patients and your practice. Upgrade your diagnostic accuracy and clinical reasoning skills as you review a series of interactive case studies, paying special attention to past medical history, risk factor assessment, clinical presentation, and associated signs and symptoms.

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to easily identify the signs of sinister medical pathologies and confidently determine when to refer patients for medical care.

So Sign up today, become the go-to resource in your facility for medical screening, and build referrals as the therapist physicians trust.
Objectives:
  1. Identify critical anatomy as it relates to pathology.
  2. Review best practices for medical screening.
  3. Discuss interview questions every clinician should ask.
  4. Recognize and synthesize symptoms that are concerning for medical pathology.
  5. Become familiar with various symptom clusters that could warrant referral.
  6. Utilize medical screening and differential diagnosis to guide a review of systems for your patients.
  7. Identify sinister medical pathology that oftentimes mimic neurological and musculoskeletal conditions.
  8. Identify hidden yellow flags to screen for depression.
  9. Develop and demonstrate clinical-decision making skills to guide hands-on assessment and intervention.
  10. Understand the difference between inductive and deductive reasoning while incorporating a bottom-up or top-down approach to patient care.
  11. Discuss strategies to assimilate information contained within clinical practice guidelines (CPG’s) and clinical prediction rules (CPR’s) and incorporate into your clinical decision-making and problem-solving.
  12. Apply the medical screening model discussed in this seminar to a series of interactive case scenarios.
