JAMES D SEARS, M.D.

Dr. James D. Sears practices in The Sears Law Firm in Daphne, Alabama. He received a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from the University of South Florida, a master's degree in special education from the University of Florida, and a doctoral degree in special education from the University of Florida. He earned his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law.

 

Dr. Sears began his professional career as a classroom teacher, teaching special needs students. He became a public school principal and, upon earning his doctorate, a university professor. Dr. Sears taught special education courses, assessments, curriculum development and special education law at the University of South Alabama, Bowling Green State University, the University of Alabama and Spring Hill College. Dr. Sears began the practice of law over 20 years ago in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He emphasizes the areas of special education, personal injury and criminal law.

 

Dr. Sears has published many articles on special education and topics related to the impact of disabilities on legal matters. He has presented lectures on these topics to groups at international, national, regional, state and local conferences. He is a frequent lecturer for continuing legal education meetings.
