PALMA, ZHAYRA

Zhayra Palma is a cultural worker and artist who has organized with, and as a part of migrant, poor, stigmatized, and criminalized communities for nearly two decades.  Central to her work is the belief that the redistribution of resources is an integral and necessary part of healing for communities that have been forced to the margins, and an invitation to heal our own personal money trauma and build collectively across class divides.  A speaker, writer and advocate for women of color in the sex trade, she has led countless grassroots art and economic redistribution projects, as well as groups for women and people of color working the sex industry.  Currently she co-organizes a mutual aid project that brings financial relief to members of her own community and creates increased possibilities for their self-determination.
