Derek Mihalcin, PhD, BCBA-D, is a licensed psychologist and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst – Doctoral and a Certified Ohio Behavior Analyst and Pennsylvania Licensed Behavior Specialist who has been working in the mental health field for 17 years. He works directly with many clients, families, and teachers in successfully improving behaviors of children, adolescents, and adults using evidence-based applied behavior analysis (ABA) treatment strategies. Dr. Mihalcin has extensive experience working with clients with a wide range of diagnoses, including Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, ODD, anxiety, and depression. As a psychologist and a behavior analysist, he developed an autism services program that includes diagnosis and treatment of autism at Oakwood Counseling Center, Inc., in Warren, Ohio, where he practices.
Dr. Mihalcin is a regular guest speaker in ABA topics at colleges and universities and presented at the Western Regional Tapestry Conference at Slippery Rock University. He is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the Ohio Association for Behavior Analysis (OHABA) and the Ohio Psychological Association (OPA). Dr. Mihalcin has many years of experience as an accreditation manager involved in maintaining compliance with the joint Commission (JCAHO) regulatory standards. He was a member of the behavior support committee for the Trumbull County Board of Developmental Disabilities in Ohio. He is also an adjunct professor in an ABA graduate program.
